What is a temperature meter?

A temperature meter is a device in which the physical quantity of temperature is converted into a readable electrical signal. Temperature meters often come in the form of handheld devices but they can also be supplied as a permanent setup. The latter case usually involves a wired or wireless sensor, transmitter or thermal imaging camera.
