What is a temperature sensor?
A temperature sensor, probe or recorder is a component in a device or machine which converts the physical quantity of temperature into a readable electrical signal. Temperature sensors are used in rooms, machinery or devices where the temperature needs to be measured.
Thermocouple or resistance sensor
Pedak has two types of temperature sensors; those with a thermocouple probe and those with a resistance probe.
The Pt100 is a resistance sensor commonly used in control technology. The benefits of this type of sensor are its large measuring range and the fact that it gives an almost linear measurement. This sensor is extremely accurate, durable and easy to use.
Thermocouples are particularly suited for the measurement of higher temperatures. The fact that thermocouples work in a different way to thermal resistance couples means they can be used for industrial processes.
Which temperature sensor do you need?
Whether you choose a thermocouple or resistance couple model depends on what your aims are. We take a holistic view and analyse the full picture regarding what you want to measure, where you need to measure and what you want to do with the results.
